He has served on the leadership teams at Tamworth Manor, Harris Academy Merton and St Mark’s Academy in Mitcham, achieving the first values-based Quality Mark at St Mark’s for any London school, and an Outstanding Ofsted grading at Harris. Dan has high expectations of students and leads on robust systems and processes to ensure the UTC is well on the road to being an Outstanding school.

Kam, a chemist by training, spearheads our Learning and Teaching programme and is also our Designated Safeguarding Lead, working closely with the pastoral team to support the young people of the UTC. His priority is to draw together an innovative and future-ready curriculum, alongside our university and employer partners, to develop the STEM professionals of the future.

David has responsibility for conduct, alongside his other role of directing our large Engineering department. With a formidable background as an engineer, teacher and lecturer, David brings with him a wealth of experience in constructing high quality programmes of study. David also runs the UTC’s investment club and the students are making very tidy gains under his stewardship!

Currently studying towards a Masters in Learning and Teaching with Oxford University, Ruth’s professional, and life experiences are unrivalled! With an honours degree in English, a Masters in History/Politics of South East Asia, and an Adventures in Fiction prize (sponsored by the Arts council of England), our students couldn’t wish for a better person at the helm of the English faculty and our teaching development programme. Having lived in many parts of the world, and speaking a number of languages, Ruth carries out her teaching duties with humility, perseverance and a great sense of humour.

A graduate of our sponsor, London South Bank University, Elizabeth specialises in Business Information Technology and has taught in a number of local schools, been a one to one tutor and has volunteered for youth organisations prior to joining the UTC.

A Zoologist by training, Francis leads the busy Science department at the UTC. Teaching Biology at A-level as his main subject, Francis also teaches Science across Key Stage 4 and uses a range of practical methods to embed the Science curriculum.

Mark graduated from the University of Texas in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. An avid traveller, Mark enjoys sharing stories of his trips to far flung destinations with the students of the UTC. Mark teaches A-level Physics and GCSE Science.

A student ambassador during his time studying at London South Bank University, Shane has a first class degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. A ‘local lad’, Shane enjoys working with the UTC students and his calm and professional manner equate to focussed and on task lessons. Now studying towards a Master degree, Shane is always looking to extend and develop his subject knowledge.

With a supreme academic background (Masters in Mathematics and Economics to name a couple), Subi is the lead teacher of the mathematics department, teaching across the full range of GCSE, Core and A-level courses. Coupled with his experience of teaching in London schools and further education settings, Subi’s positive outlook makes for productive working relationships with students.

Andy works closely with our AVP/Director of Engineering David Bell at the helm of the Engineering team. A Motorsport graduate with many years of experience teaching in a Further Education setting, Andy can often be found tinkering in his workshop with students, producing items on one of the many technologies at his disposal, including laser cutters and 3D printers. Andy is leading the new Level 2 NVQ Performing Manufacturing Operations course, fulfilling his love of motorsports by designing, building, testing and racing electric race cars in the Formula 24+ category with Greenpower.

Marlon is another alumni of our sponsor, London South Bank University and is new to teaching. With a Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering, Marlon is a valuable addition to the engineering teaching team. Marlon formerly worked as a Learning Support Officer within the SEND team, and therefore has an in-depth understanding of how to support young people. Marlon also teaches Kung Fu outside of his commitments to the UTC.

Of calm yet firm temperament, Manal is a qualified teacher, teaching GCSE and A-level Mathematics. She has been involved in education for many years in a number of guises; as a cover supervisor; tutor; and volunteer with students of all ages. Manal shows her passion and enthusiasm for her subject in her meticulously planned and executed lessons. She is a fantastic addition to the Maths team!

A University of Sheffield graduate, with a great passion for her subject, Ellie is a founding member of the UTC staff beginning as a TA, who quickly established herself as an assertive member of the team. Now teaching, with great aplomb, Ellie is a strong advocate of modelling behaviour for students, and our students certainly have a great respect for Miss Keightley. Ellie shuns the bus ride into work every day in favour of cycling in!

As a Microsoft and Goggle accredited expert teacher, Mark is well placed to pass on industry leading knowledge and expertise to our students.

Clarise joined our Engineering faculty in September 2018 as a teacher of Business. Taught within the BTEC Level 3 engineering course, we have increased the number of modules dedicated to Business in order to meet the demands of existing and prospective students. A Global Business graduate of Coventry University, Clarise is a qualified teacher and won a 'University Women in Leadership' in 2014 as a result of her work on Human Resources management in relation to diversity and equality. Clarise likes to bake and is currently learning Korean. We are so pleased to have her on board here at the UTC!

Having recently qualified as a teacher, Sam teaches across the full range of Mathematics courses in both Key Stages 4 and 5.

A Mechanical Engineering Design graduate of LSBU, Luca is passionate about engineering and, as part of a wider team of Engineers, has participated in the Shell Eco Marathon project. Designing and building a motor racing car from scratch, Luca’s knowledge in this area has been invaluable to his teaching.

Abbie brings a huge amount of SEND experience to her role as SENDCO, having worked as an HLTA and Assistant SENDCO in previous schools. Abbie leads a team of two Learning Support Officers who support students in lessons and on a one to one basis.

A qualified teacher, with a first class honours degree in Chemistry and a doctorate in Plant Sciences, Sangita is well qualified to teach Chemistry to both GCSE science students and A-level sixth form students. Sangita complements her teaching commitments at the UTC with a project on developing scientific writing skills in young learners (KS3/4), for which she has been awarded a research grant.

A Cambridge graduate, with an honours degree in Mechanical Engineering, Lettie’s areas of expertise within the Key Stage 5 curriculum are mechanical science/mathematics, and principles of engineering. Lettie completed internships at Jaguar and the Macau Electrical Company prior to joining the UTC and has brought valuable knowledge and expertise to the engineering team.

A qualified teacher, with a Master's in English Philology, and a Bachelors degree in Humanities and Natural Sciences, Katja's experience as a teacher means she is well placed to support learning and progress in the English department. Katja is currently completing a Masters in Education Policy and Society and is enjoying expanding her experience in education to her new role of Learning Support Officer to help to break down barriers to achievement. The English department is thrilled to have Katja on board!

Louise joined us in September 2018, wishing for a change in her original career as an architect. Louise's desire to work with young people was the main driver in this career change although she has managed to combine her passions of art, design and technology with her desire to help to develop students into forward thinking, questioning and resourceful individuals. Louise's knowledge of technology and software such as AutoCAD and Revit is invaluable to the support she is able to provide to students.

She also has a fantastic sense of humour....essential when working with young people!

Delma’s compassion for young people is at the heart of all she does. A foster parent for many years, and with two boys of her own, Delma enjoys helping young people to build resilience and self-confidence. Delma is currently training to be a counsellor and has run four marathons, raising a substantial amount of money for charity. She is also our staff bowling champion!

Luyanda is a valuable addition to the UTC administrative team, providing a firm but friendly approach on our front desk. With previous experience in London schools, and her work with local community groups developing dance and theatre programmes, Luyanda has a wealth of experience of working with young people. Luyanda has an Honours degree and has taught English and English as a second language to students in Key Stages 2 through to 4. We are very fortunate to have Luyanda on the team.
